Treatment for Scalp Psoriasis

Scalp psoriasis treatment isn’t much different from the treatments applied to other parts of the body that show psoriasis. The only problem is that often the medications prescribed for other types of psoriasis aren’t quite as easy to apply to your scalp, head or neck. But the ingredients are usually just the same.

A major problem for people with this condition, is that there tends to be a significant amount of skin flaking which can be embarrassing and the cause of no small amount of discomfort. Even when there is relatively little flaking, it’s almost impossible to wear anything black or dark.

Telling the difference between scalp psoriasis and other forms of skin flaking such as dandruff is usually down to a trip to the doctors. They will give you a physical examination, and if necessary take sample of your skin for biopsy. Unless the conditions are classic, which your health practitioner will be able to spot, you’ll need a proper diagnosis from the tests.
