“I Have to Lose 10 Pounds. 10 Days is My Goal!”
I’ve lost count how many times I’ve heard my mother scream; “I Have to Lose 10 Pounds. 10 Days is My Goal!“ And guess what? Every time she sets her goal to lose 10 pounds of body fat in just a week and a half, she always achieves it. So what’s the problem? My Mom needs to lose like 150 pounds, and every time she embarks on some diet and exercise plan to lose ten (and she does), she celebrates by rewarding herself with a big slap up meal with all her favourite foods. Her favourite foods by the way, are not exactly what you might eat if you were serious about your long term health and fitness. My mother is no different to parents and overweight children of many a family in that eating is far more enjoyable than slimming, and there lays the problem. It is only when we in society can change our whole attitude towards food that we stand a hop in hells chance of ever maintaining whatever goals we set ourselves.
